We had a surprise visitor last night – little Roxy the jackeranian.
Of course, Charlie Machete is very concerned about getting his sweetheart the right gift for Valentine’s Day. I assured him the solution can be found in Wayward Hearts: A Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for Dogs and Dog Lovers.

Easy Baked Peanut Butter Cookies for Dogs
Confession: I’ve had these cookie cutters for years and never used them.
That all changed yesterday, when I decided to make DIY Christmas cookies for our dogs and their doggy friends.
I started with a recipe on Pinterest that required just four ingredients.
I only had three of those ingredients on hand, but I played recipe jazz and found success anyway.
Hint: You can almost always substitute yogurt for milk!

Here’s my adapted recipe:
Baked Peanut Butter Cookies for Dogs
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour (whole wheat preferred – I used a mixture)
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1 cup peanut butter (natural preferred – I only had Jif)
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- water as needed
Directions:
Mix wet ingredients (except water) and dry ingredients separately and then combine in one big bowl. Stir thoroughly. Add a little water if batter seems to dry or lumpy. Once the mixture is smooth, roll out onto a lightly floured surface and cut out shapes with your favorite cookie cutters. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees (F) for 18 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a cookie rack, and then store in an airtight container. Yield depends on the size of your cookie cutters.

The next time I make these cookies, I will probably add cinnamon and maybe mini carob chips.
I gathered up several baggies of 10 or so cookies each for some of Scooby, Luke and Charlie Machete’s favorite friends.
At Zach’s family Christmas celebration last night, Echo the elderbelle and hot Roxy (aka Charlie Machete’s girlfriend) approved.

A little romance
Charlie Machete has a crush.
Jack Russel Terrier + pomeranian = jackeranian
Her name is Roxy.
The little, 7-pound jackeranian is staying with us for a few days while her mama is out of town.
To the old dogs, she’s just a little chippy. As a married man, Luke wisely sets boundaries. He even gave Roxy a little growl so she knew not to invade his space on the first night.
Scooby is suspicious of anyone who could get in the way of his snuggles with mama.
Charlie Machete, however, can’t take his eyes – or his nose – off of Ms. Roxy.
There’s some longing in his gaze.
It’s sniff time.
The attraction is hardly one-sided. (But who could blame a girl for being intrigued by a handsome guy like Charlie Machete?)
Luke is bored by young love.
But Charlie Machete is a guy who can come on a little too strong at times. So, I gave him some romantic advice.
Don’t overwhelm the little girl.
Don’t get too fresh.
Play it cool.
“I’ll just head the other direction. Maybe she’ll follow.”
Because the last thing a young canine suitor wants is to be reprimanded by the Bad Dog Can in front of his crush.
Then again, maybe Roxy is one of those girls who like bad boys…
No snuggling on the first date.
“Do not look at the cute girl. Do not look at the cute girl.”
